Long - lasting distinctive scent
I`ll confess, I wouldn`t have noticed this perfume if it weren`t for the colourful, dizzy advert for it when it first came out, featuring Madonna, and that song, "Love Profusion", but having noticed the ad, I was moved to try a tester in Debenhams at the perfume counter, and I absolutely loved it straight off.
I`m not really a perfume person, I never have been much for anything other than nicking someone`s for an evening out, mostly because I could never find anything I liked enough/could stand the scent of around me/lasted more than about half an hour.
So, I walked around with this tester on all day, and got a bit wistful about how nice it was, very fresh, very summery, and thought, aw, I`d love this...but it`s just too expensive, and I probably wouldn`t wear it, and that, well, was about it. Until I was very kindly bought a bottle of it for my birthday - right in the height of summer it was, as well.
I was a bit surprised, as, it`s not cheap, but, wow, in retrospect, so very much worth the money. This must`ve been about a year and a half ago, give or take a couple of months, and I still have half a bottle left. I`m not someone that sprays it everywhere, just a spray at the pulse points, and I`ll leave it at that. I probably wear it three or four times a week, when I remember to!
To specifics, then.
The outside packaging, it`s not much to shout about, and it might not grab your attention from the shelf, being as it is, rather pale, and pastelly, but pretty nonetheless.
The bottle itself, though, I love it. A weighty glass bulb, in rainbow colours, with a neat silver spray-top, it`s very satisfying to hold, and not as awkward as the shape might suggest.
It sprays a good amount, too, and properly, not like some perfumes where you`re ekeing out a drop at a time, and it can be difficult to place where you want it.
The scent, obviously the point of it all, I absolutely adore it, although I am finding it difficult to describe! Colourful, is a start, I think. Very tropical, very warm perfume, it makes me think of flowers, of summer, and of that flipping Madonna song, every. single. time. I apply it! Fortunately I like it though, so I won`t hold it against the perfume!
There`s just something about it that makes me smile, could be the bottle, the colourfulness of that, the scent itself, which is so bright, and fruity, but yet has no background of musk or anything, isn`t something that, for me at least, stings, for example, or catches at the back of the throat.
It fades to a nice, subtle floweriness, which stays with me a good eight hours or so, at least the working day. It`s not an overpowering scent, distinctive enough to make an impression, but I`ve worn it to everything from work, to out clubbing, to meals out and suchlike, it seems very versatile.
Like I said before, I`ve never been much of a one for perfumes, have often tested them in the shop, or in magazines, but never before been moved to buy any, so the fact that I`ve found one I like, that seems to suit me, means that when this bottle does run out, I`ll definitely be heading back for more!
I`ve had plenty of the "Ooo, you smell nice" sort of comments from it as well, and those are always good to have, and one or two people have said it`s very `me`, again, nice to happen upon something that suits you, in the world of perfume, where it`s often obvious that some things just don`t work.
I`d recommend testing this out to see if you like it, as it has a brightness to it that isn`t going to suit everyone, nor every age/style, but if you do find yourself thinking it`s nice, I`d fully recommend investing in the full-sized 100 ml bottle - far cheaper, too, than the half-size one I`ve also seen sold.
Price varies between £45-55 depending on current promotions/which store you buy it from, for the full-sized, but as I say, it`s lasted a very long time, and shows no sign of fading. I have, it`s worth noting, always kept the bottle in the full packaging, out of direct light sourcing, and all of that, as usually recommended with perfume.
It`s widely available, at all the usual perfume counters, Boots, Debenhams, Superdrug and the like, and I have seen it on offer a couple of times. You can also get other products infused with the same scent - a body lotion, and body spray, two I`ve seen around. I tested the lotion once, and I`d rather like to get myself some of that to go at some point as well!
